LA + Talú Collaboration
Dip-Dyed with Weld & Madder
Our new collection Dathú is a collaboration between Liadain Aiken Knitwear & Malú Colorín of Talú. We knit in natural ecru, wash them and send them to Malú to be dyed with natural dyes. This kerchief has been dip-dyed with Weld and Madder in the Talú studio in West Wicklow. Each of our beautiful Dathú kerchiefs are knit on hand-driven knitting machines and hand-dyed with plants. The creation of each hat consists of six stages. From knitting to tidying ends, natural dyeing to washing, ironing to sewing the label, each stage performed with love from our hands to your head. Our high end lambswool is from a family run Scottish company who has been spinning and dying yarns for 200 years. The dyes we use come from plants grown and processed in Europe using organic or low-energy methods that don’t cause deforestation. These plants have tried and tested historical efficacy and colourfastness.
