Garment Details

Each garment is lovingly made by sturdy arms on a hand driven knitting machine (no electricity required!). Our pieces are fully knit to shape, rather than cut and sewn, and then linked together using a hand driven linking machine, or hand sewn.  No mass production. No cut corners. This is slow fashion.

Our hats come in sizes Small, Medium, and Large. Medium is standard and fits most heads but if your head is a little on the small side or you are buying for a child, perhaps opt for Small. Similarly, if you generally find hats a bit tight, or prefer a looser fit, the Large could be for you.

Our baby hats generally fit those aged 6 months to 2 years. If you specify the age of the little one, we will try to ensure we make a good fit for them.

Our garments our made with longevity in mind, however, to ensure a long and happy relationship with your knit, it is recommended that you learn about how to properly care for your quality woollen products.

Items should only be washed when necessary and spot cleaned where possible.  In the case of a stain, rinse the area immediately with cold water (warm or hot water might set the stain).

Our garments are hand-wash only and care should be taken throughout the process; be gentle, let it sit in the lukewarm water and do not twist or wring to remove excess water, as this can cause the garment to misshape and the yarn to felt. Press gently between palms to remove excess water and then lay flat in between towels and roll until the majority of the moisture has been removed.

Following the wash, reshape your sweater and lay it out flat to dry.

Once dry, fold your sweater and store it flat. Avoid hanging your sweater on a hanger as this may stretch the garment.

Should you opt to use a dry cleaner, request that they treat the garment, and any stains, with special care and attention.

Long-Term/Summer Storage

To allow the natural fibres to breath, it is recommended that you store your garment in a canvas or muslin bag, a cardboard box, or wrap it in acid-free tissue paper. This will help extend its life and ensure a pleasant reunion come winter.

To avoid moths, it is recommended that garments be cleaned before storage. For additional protection against moths, cloves, lavender, rosemary, thyme, dried orange peel, or cedar chips can be used. Simply tie any of these natural repellents in a sachet and place it near, though not directly upon, the garment.
